My desire is to support the game of basketball at its core: in teaching the fundamentals. There has been a decline in "good" basketball over the years and the reason is simple - poor execution of the fundamentals. Fundamentals are not being taught as they were 20 years ago. Today's camps are designed for kids to play games. Sports Illustrated Magazine published a story in its 2002-03 College Basketball Preview Edition entitled, "Just Do It Right: College Basketball Has a Fundamental Problem - Lousy Fundamentals." Everybody can jam, but no one can hit a jump shot. How do we fix it? Get back to the basics. This is the Premise upon which the Ohio Prep Academy is based - teaching the right way to play through fundamentals.
I don't expect to turn every student into a great player, but I will provide all students with a solid foundation of basketball knowledge that will enable them to succeed on the court.
